GimmeBlooms ("we", "us") helps US gardeners design flower beds. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. We try to keep this short and plain.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Email address and ZIP code when you join the waitlist or save a teaser bed from the home page.
- Account information when you create an account: name and email via our authentication provider (Clerk). If you sign up via OAuth (Google, etc.), we receive your name, email, and profile photo from that provider.
- Garden preferences you enter during onboarding: ZIP code, USDA zone, sun exposure, color palette, pollinator preference.
- Beds you create: bed name, dimensions, and the flowers selected for it.
- Email preferences: whether you want weekly reminders.
Information collected automatically
- Server logs: IP address, browser, pages visited, referrer, timestamps. Used for security, debugging, and aggregate analytics. Retained for up to 90 days.
- Authentication cookies set by our auth provider (Clerk) to keep you signed in. We do not set marketing or advertising cookies.
- Error reports: when an error occurs, our error-tracking service (Sentry, when configured) records the error type, page, and browser. PII is not sent by default.
2. How we use information
- To generate flower bed plans tailored to your zone and preferences.
- To send weekly "this week in your garden" emails (only if opted in — you can turn this off in your dashboard or via the unsubscribe link in every email).
- To operate, maintain, and improve the service.
- To respond to your support requests.
- To prevent fraud and abuse.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data to train third-party AI models.
3. Third parties we share with
We use the following service providers. Each receives only the data necessary to do their job, and each has its own privacy policy:
- Vercel — hosting and CDN. Privacy
- Neon — managed Postgres database for accounts, profiles, and beds. Privacy
- Clerk — authentication and account management. Privacy
- Resend — transactional and weekly email delivery. Privacy
- Sentry — error tracking (when configured). Privacy
We may also share data when legally required (subpoena, court order) or to protect rights, property, or safety.
4. Affiliate links
Some flower buy-links on the site (Amazon, seed vendors) are affiliate links. When you click them, the destination merchant may set their own cookies. We do not control those cookies. See our Affiliate Disclosure for details.
5. Data retention
We keep your account data as long as your account exists. Server logs are retained for up to 90 days. Email opt-in records are retained for as long as you remain subscribed plus a 30-day grace period after unsubscribe.
6. Your rights
You can:
- Access your data — view your saved beds and preferences in your dashboard.
- Update your data — edit your profile or beds at any time.
- Delete your account — email hello@gimmeblooms.com and we will delete your account and associated data within 30 days.
- Unsubscribe from emails — every weekly email has a one-click unsubscribe link.
- Export your data — email us and we will send you a JSON export of your account data within 30 days.
California, EU, and other residents may have additional rights under their local laws (CCPA, GDPR, VCDPA, etc.). Contact us to exercise them.
7. Children's privacy
GimmeBlooms is intended for users 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.
8. International transfers
We are based in the United States. If you access GimmeBlooms from outside the US, your data may be transferred to and stored in the US. By using the service you consent to this transfer.
9. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, notify you by email or in-app notice. Continued use after changes means you accept the new policy.
